HONOURING A TIMELESS CLASSIC WITH THE BLACK BAY 54

The Black Bay 54 is more than a timepiece; it showcases the heritage of the French and US Navies with its clean, uniform aesthetic and pinched hands, reminiscent of its 1954 counterpart. The design, subtly echoing the infancy of scuba diving in the ’50s, is presented with a clear, unidirectional bezel. The lollipop design of the seconds hand offers a nostalgic nod to its historic predecessor. Attention to detail is evident in the revised crown and bezel, featuring proportions that honour the past while embracing the present. Yet, it doesn’t shy away from modernity, incorporating subtle satin radial-brushed dials and a “T-fit” clasp for an impeccable fit. This balance of history and innovation is powered by the in-house Manufacture Calibre MT5400, with the modest 37mm case, achieving a 200m depth rating.

TUDOR BLACK BAY 54 MARRIES HERITAGE WITH HOROLOGIC PROWESS

The Manufacture Calibre MT5400 is a prime example of TUDOR’s watch craftsmanship, where reliability is key. It embodies a finish representative of TUDOR Manufacture Calibres – an openwork and satin-brushed tungsten monobloc rotor adorned with sand-blasted details. Its bridges and mainplate alternate between sand-blasted and polished surfaces with intricate laser decorations.

Designed for robustness and precision, the MT5400 is supported by a durable traversing bridge with a two-point anchoring system, ensuring a variable inertia balance wheel. Together with its non-magnetic silicon hairspring, it achieves a meticulous tolerance range of six seconds (-2/+4) tested on a fully assembled Black Bay 54. Renowned for its “weekend-proof” power reserve, the MT5400 features an impressive 70-hour reserve, allowing you to enjoy a weekend getaway without the necessity of winding your watch.

The Black Bay 54 is fitted with a satin-brushed three-link steel bracelet, enhanced by the TUDOR “T-fit” clasp for quick length adjustment. For a more sporty appeal, a form-fitted black rubber strap, adjustable to the wearer’s wrist, is also available. The signature snowflake motif inside adds to the grip, ensuring a comfortable fit.
