Watch lovers get up close and personal with TUDOR’s latest launches at an event by Kee Hing Hung

Glimmering views of Singapore’s night skyline served as the backdrop for a celebration of TUDOR’s latest novelties on May 13. Hosted by retailer Kee Hing Hung, the event saw horology enthusiasts and invited guests coming together in SushiSamba, located atop Capital Tower.

Addressing the crowd, TUDOR’s general manager for Southeast Asia noted that the evening was not only about enjoying “the beautiful view and beautiful watches” but also about coming together with a shared passion.

This was especially evident as things progressed and guests had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the brand’s recent launches, earlier unveiled in Geneva at this year’s Watches and Wonders.

Every TUDOR watch is assembled and rigorously tested at the brand’s Manufacture in Le Locle, Switzerland. Inaugurated in 2023, the state-of-art facility blends traditional craftsmanship with advanced automation to produce high-performance mechanical calibres, including those certified as master chronometers by METAS.

Representatives from the Kee Hing Hung team brought guests through each model, steadily fielding questions along the way.

Flash of red

Perhaps the watch that received the most oohs and aahs was the Black Bay 58 in burgundy. Its design borrows elements from an unreleased TUDOR Submariner prototype from the 1990s, which had a similarly eye-catching burgundy dial with a matching bezel.

Under the dial is the METAS-certified master chronometer calibre MT5400-U, which runs at a frequency of 4 Hertz with a power reserve of 65 hours.

The new Black Bay 58 has three strap options: a three-link bracelet, five-link bracelet or rubber strap; the latter was custom-fit for the new watch, and is available in three sizes. All three straps come with TUDOR’s “T-fit” clasp, which allows wearers to carry out fine adjustments in a window of 8mm without any tools.

Also drawing attention from the crowd was the new Pelagos Ultra, which boasts a water resistance of up to 1,000m. Engineered for saturation diving, the watch has a 43mm satin-brushed case in grade-2 titanium, with the caseback rendered in grade-5 titanium. Dual colours of SuperLumiNova ensure high visibility even in the darkest depths.

Powering the Pelagos Ultra is the calibre MT5612-U, another METAS-certified master chronometer. Offering the time and date, the self-winding movement ticks at 4 Hertz, and has a power reserve of 65 hours.

The watch is delivered with two straps, including a three-link grade-2 titanium bracelet; in a first for the Pelagos line, luminous markers on the clasp allow for easy and rapid adjustments. The second strap, in black rubber, has a grade-2 titanium pin buckle and end-links, with an extension piece that allows for further lengthening by up to 110mm.

Bigger is better

Another 43mm model, the new Black Bay 68 bucks the trend towards smaller watches, bringing a fresh look to the Black Bay collection while retaining classic design elements such as TUDOR’s iconic “Snowflake” hands.

In addition to a silver-dialled model with black accents, there’s also a version with a TUDOR Blue dial, punctuated with touches of silver. Both versions come equipped with a three-link stainless steel bracelet that has a “T-fit” clasp.

The calibre MT5601-U within the Black Bay 68 runs at a frequency of 4 Hertz and offers an impressive power reserve of 70 hours. Also a METAS-certified master chronometer, the movement is resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss, with an accuracy of –2/+4 seconds per day.

To mark half a century of crafting chronographs, TUDOR has refreshed the Black Bay Chrono with two dial options and contrasting subdials. Pick from either matte black with white opaline subdials, or the inverse: white opaline with matte black subdials.

Both versions of the updated Black Bay Chrono have a fixed bezel in 316L stainless steel, with a tachymetric scale insert in black anodised aluminium. The 41mm watch sports either a three-link or five-link bracelet with a “T-Fit” clasp, also in stainless steel.

Going pro

Lastly, guests were intrigued by the familiar-yet-new pop of yellow that flashed from the Black Bay Pro, which has been updated with a new white opaline dial that translates to a high boost of contrast. Ceramic hour markers and “Snowflake” hands, all outlined in black, further boost the legibility of the watch.

Made for globetrotting, the Black Bay Pro’s reference time is indicated by a yellow “Snowflake” hand. Powering the watch is the calibre MT5652, first seen in the original Black Bay Pro when it was unveiled in 2022. The 4-Hertz, COSC-certified chronometer has a power reserve of 70 hours.
